Outlaws phishing: impersonating another person or business through the internet, e-mail, or wireless communications to get Tennessee residents to hand over identifying information, fraudulently obtaining such information, and mimicking or hijacking websites and e-mail traffic to defraud. It gives strong civil remedies to service providers, site and trademark owners, and victims.

Penalties
Internet access providers, web page owners, and trademark owners with ascertainable loss may recover the greater of actual damages or $500,000; injured individuals may recover the greater of treble damages or $5,000 per violation; the Attorney General or a district attorney may seek injunctions and civil penalties up to $2,500 per violation. Violations are also TCPA violations.
